The Power of Binoculars

Telescopes are the stargazing icons, yet surprisingly most backyard astronomers will tell you to not to purchase a telescope as your first piece of equipment. Binoculars are capable of providing spectacular views into the stars with much more detail than our own eyes can. The power and aperture recommended for most is 7x50, which can provide 7x magnification while having a wide enough field of view and having a 50mm lens which gathers tons of light providing better imaging while not being too heavy to handle for longer periods of stargazing.
